2020 was an emotional roller coaster across the world! The pandemic caused plans to fall through and brought about significant economic losses for many industries. However, 2020 also opened many doors. In particular, it paved the way for digital possibilities and in a short space of time many solutions were in place that were previously unthinkable.
In spite of all the opportunities and the new impetus for digitization, we also miss having close personal proximity to our employees and customers. Especially in the run-up to Christmas, we are once again painfully aware of the impact of social restrictions!
We know that a great many greeting cards will go unread this year because, like AUVESY, other companies have sent numerous employees into home office in order to safeguard their health. We have therefore decided to invest our Christmas card budget by donating the amount to the international fight against the corona virus. By donating to the charity Kinderhilfswerk Plan International, we hope to donate 60 hygiene boxes to people who do not have access to basic hygiene.
Never stand still!
It would have been completely counter to the values we strive to uphold here at AUVESY had we chosen to stick our heads in the sand. Instead, we encouraged ourselves to keep on keeping on and since March we have kept the business running from home office. And so, the year has also blessed us with some beautiful moments for which it is worthwhile to briefly pause and think about. We would like to take this opportunity to look back on some of the happier moments of 2020 with you:
- New Chief Operating Officer
This year Stefan Jesse, an IT manager with many years of experience, was brought in to help support CEO Dr. Tim Weckerle. Stefan Jesse has been in the newly created position of Chief Operating Officer (COO) since March. He reports directly to the CEO and supports him with his extensive experience in expanding structures in fast growing companies.
- AUVESY Conference
Over the two-day conference period our speakers gave it their all, providing existing and potential customers around the globe with fascinating insights into developments and trends in industrial automation. More than 300 participants from 36 different countries attended our 6 webcasts, which took place in two different time slots.
- Web presence in China
Preparations are well underway for a sales subsidiary in the People’s Republic of China. The first steps have already been taken. Our Chinese website www.auvesy.cn is online since the beginning of August, and we are now present in weChat; one of the most important social media platforms for Chinese communications.
Along with the modern flat design and improved performance, versiondog 8.0 and the latest version 8.1.5 offers additional added value with regard to the future viability of automation. versiondog paves the way towards the Industrial Internet of Things and makes life easier for maintenance staff in terms of collaboration, change management and Open Platform Communications (OPC).
- Joint webcasts with CERN and the Slovenian Steel Group
In addition to our well-booked webcast series, our SPS Connect webcast program was a particular highlight in the late year. We were able to convince two of our customers to share their user stories with interested parties and users.
Despite or maybe because of the current circumstances, the AUVSY team is highly motivated to continue these and other success stories together with you in the coming year!
Our office is closed from the 23rd of December and will reopen January 4th. And don’t worry, in the meantime versiondog will ensure that no machine comes to a standstill in your production!
We wish you a joyous Christmas season and a good start in 2021 – stay healthy!
your AUVESY team
